Stretching from the west coast port town of Nathon to the popular tourist hub of Lamai, Koh Samui’s Virgin Coast is home to sleepy fishing communities, bustling local markets, and a smattering of select resorts and private residences.
Although this stretch of stunning coastline is far less developed that the bigger tourist areas on the island’s east and north coast; what it lacks in amenities, it more than makes up for in tropical tranquility and a peaceful ambiance.
Residents of the various villages that pepper this exclusive coast, which include Laem Set, Taling Ngam, Thong Krut, Lipa Noi, and Laem Sor, enjoy privileged access to a serene side of Koh Samui that most tourists don’t even realize exists.
Just offshore, Koh Tan and Koh Matsum speckle the horizon, enticing visitors to embark on a day trip of snorkeling and exploring the sandy shores. Other attractions and activities on offer along the Virgin Coast include cooling off at Namuang waterfalls, visiting a artisanal rum distillery, taking in the hilltop panorama from the ruins of Chao Chedi, or simply relaxing on one of the area’s palm-lined beaches.
For nightlife and shopping, Chaweng and Lamai are just 30 and 20 minutes away respectively. Koh Samui International Airport is an easy 40 minute drive.
